The third round of the CUAC championship was the second of the two endurance races of the season. Unusually for CUAC, Letchworth is an indoor electric karting facility, presenting a very different challenge to the rest of the calendar.
Due to their limited battery range, each team was given two karts, one charging up while the other was racing. They also only manage 10 minute stints at full speed, and we were recommended to stick to 7-8 minute stints, leading to most teams going for a 15-stop strategy! They also had a reverse gear, which some teams made more use of than others...
Dom showed impressive pace from the start, using his brakes so little that when he needed them to avoid a collision it transpired that they hadn't been working the whole time! Team 2 then proceeded to make good use of their replacement kart with its fresh battery, finishing a comfortable 8 laps ahead. Behind them, teams 5, 1, 6 and 4 were very well matched, the latter three finishing with 220 laps apiece.

Unfortunately, low lighting isn't great for taking photos of moving objects, so my pictures didn't turn out great. Here are some of the better ones:
Next time out will likely be a heats and final event at Red Lodge towards the end of term, keep an eye on your emails!
It was Team 2 (not 1) which made good use of their replacement kart.
