The second event of the BUKC season was at Buckmore Park, this year swapping places with PFI to take the second slot in the calendar on Saint Valentine's Day.
Mains - Wednesday 14th March
Round 3 - Morning
The track started wet, and the clouds made sure that every time the track started to dry that the puddles would be topped up from above.
Race | Driver | Position | Fastest lap |
1 | Alexander Wilkinson | 11(-2) | 1:08.318 |
2 | Jack Hepworth | 21(-18) | 1:09.311 |
5 | Adam Ormondroyd | 30(+3) | 1:10.909 |
6 | Oliver Sier | 26(+1) | 1:10.218 |
Round 4 - Afternoon
More sprint races were scheduled for the afternoon, though with them came a little more rain. The track remained wet, but was certainly a little drier than the morning.
Race | Driver | Position | Fastest lap |

5 | Adam Ormondroyd | 26(-10) | 1:09.602 |
A few words from the drivers
Alex
"I had been hoping for a sunny day: a fool’s errand. Typical damp Buckmore conditions, but with the uncommon twist of frequent rain showers, made for an interesting day of racing, with an evolving but not improving track. I certainly had the most fun of all my visits to this track so far.
"A wheel onto the painted outside of hairpin one dragged me wide and lost me two places on the last lap of my morning race, which otherwise was a solid result. Meanwhile, starting from plumb last let me scythe my way through the pack in my afternoon race – although a crash on lap 3 sent me back 10 places to last again – making 22 places on track and another two after penalties to nearly match my P9 start in results. One of my most satisfying races ever!"
Jack
"I had a decent first race, starting up in 3rd position but getting caught up in too much carnage on the first lap. Spent the rest of the race having a good time battling others, and ending up middle of the pack. The second race was disastrous in comparison, some (unfair?) penalties toward the end of the race left me finishing at the back."
Adam
"Starting near the back in my morning race meant I had a lot of work to do, especially after getting tagged from behind through the final corner at the end of lap 1. I caught back up to the back, and was getting ready to get stuck in before one of the drivers caught me out braking super early into hairpin one, and my head went down for the rest of the race.
"In the afternoon I was starting in the middle of the pack; at one point I was facing 90º to the circuit but managed to use another kart to push myself back around, finding myself in the top 10 only for the race to be restarted. A similar thing happened again, getting tagged and untagged by the karts around, but this time not benefitting quite so much from the carnage. I felt more confident than in the morning, but my pace still wasn't great and I trickled down the order, but a fun overtake in the last few corners was a small silver lining."
